What to check before buying
These are the pitfalls on site. None of these are shown in the manufacturer's presentation — but any of them can halt your project after delivery.
- SDK openness: what exactly is available—only high-level commands or actuator control. This determines whether scientific work is possible on the platform at all.
- Documentation and examples in English, an active community and forum. A closed platform without a community will stall at the first non-standard task.
- Spare parts: educational equipment breaks often and regularly, so an accessible parts warehouse and a clear replacement procedure are essential.
- Terms for educational institutions: some manufacturers offer special pricing and educational kits, but these aren’t listed in the price sheet—you have to ask.
