Industry

A collaborative robot is placed next to a person without a safety cage and handles the monotonous part of the operation—the part where people burn out and quit: end of the line, packaging, machine loading.

The second scenario is equipment inspection. A robot dog with a thermal camera follows a route at night, records heat from components and instrument readings, so the inspector doesn’t have to work the shift when attention is at its lowest.

What to check before buying

These are the pitfalls on site. None of these are shown in the manufacturer's presentation — but any of them can halt your project after delivery.

  1. Risk assessment per GOST ISO/TS 15066 for cobot operation next to people. Without it, occupational safety will not approve the launch.
  2. Actual part weight with gripper: payload in specs is listed without tooling, and this often comes up on site.
  3. Line takt time: the robot must keep up with the cycle, or it becomes the bottleneck.
  4. Who programs and reconfigures. Training your own engineer is cheaper than calling an integrator for every product change.
