About the model

Spot is Boston Dynamics’ quadruped robot for industrial inspection. It goes where wheeled platforms can’t: stairs, grates, slopes, and construction sites. The robot collects data along a set route and removes people from dangerous and monotonous rounds.

The base platform carries up to 14 kg payload on M5 rails and connects to the Spot Arm manipulator, Spot CAM+ camera, thermal imager, lidar, and Dock charging station. Spot is mass-produced, with customers including BP, National Grid, Turner Construction, Woodside Energy, and Acciona.

MobilitySpeed up to 1.6 m/s, slopes up to ±30°, steps up to 300 mm high. Walking height adjustable from 520 to 700 mm.

Autonomous patrolsThe robot autonomously follows a recorded route, avoids obstacles, and maintains distance from stationary objects. 360° view with a 4 m range.

Protected bodyIP54 protection, operating temperature from −20 to +55 °C. Operates in lighting as low as 2 lux.

Battery and docking station564 Wh battery provides an average of 90 minutes of operation, full charge in about 60 minutes. With Dock, the robot automatically recharges between missions.

Modular payloadPower ports 35–58.8 V, 150 W per port. Spot Arm enables door opening, valve turning, and object handling.
