Twenty-five thousand humanoid robots at car plants: this is the plan announced by the Hyundai group. And the training of Atlas has already started. On September 21 Boston Dynamics announced the opening of a special center at the Hyundai plant in the US state of Georgia.
What the robots are taught
Here robots are taught to prepare car parts and lay them out in the right order before assembly. For now this is training and testing, not 25,000 machines already on shift.

In official demonstrations Atlas carries a mini-fridge, keeps its balance with a load and uses its whole body to handle heavy objects. This footage shows its training, not the work of the new center.

Hyundai's plans
- in 2027 the training site is planned to be enlarged about ten times;
- by 2030 the robots are planned to be trained to assemble components;
- the robots are to be introduced at Hyundai and Kia plants in the coming years.

Hyundai at CES 2026
At CES 2026 the Hyundai group showed an ecosystem of machines around Atlas: wheeled platforms, manipulators and warehouse solutions. It shows that the company looks wider than a single robot and thinks about a whole line of automation for factories and logistics.

Why this matters
Humanoids are moving from demonstrations to the factory environment: what matters here is not jumps but precision, repeatability and safety around people. The center in Georgia is a step from the laboratory to a real assembly line, but mass use will need years of testing and an economically sensible price.
