About the model

Optimus is Tesla’s general-purpose humanoid robot. Designed for repetitive and hazardous tasks: first at Tesla’s own factories, then for external clients and at home. The robot uses the same neural network and computer vision approaches as Tesla Autopilot.

Optimus is not for sale yet. The second generation was shown in December 2023; the third generation was not officially announced at the time of writing. According to Tesla’s Q2 2026 report, the first production line is being installed at the Fremont factory, with production expected later this year.
