About the model

Astro is Amazon’s home robot with Alexa. It moves around your home, can follow you with music or podcasts, check rooms on request, and stream live video in the app. The periscope camera extends above furniture to check, for example, if the stove is off.

The robot is sold only in the US and by invitation only — this is the Day 1 Editions program. Amazon discontinued the Astro for Business version in 2024, but the home model remains available as before. Patrolling with Ring works via a Ring Protect Pro subscription.

Periscope cameraRetractable 1080p camera with 132° field of view, sees in visible and infrared. When streaming, an indicator lights up on top.

Visual IDHousehold members teach Astro to recognize their faces so it delivers reminders or calls to the right person. Data is stored on the device.

Alexa on wheelsAnswers questions, plays music, controls your smart home, and makes video calls on a 10-inch display.
